Connecting with Our Community

"At New West Theatre, we believe in the power of theatre to bring people together and create lasting change. Our Outreach programs are designed to connect with the community, foster creativity, and make the arts accessible to all. Whether it's through workshops, school programs, or special events, our goal is to engage, educate, and inspire."

Engaging Through the Arts

“Our Outreach programs cover a wide range of activities designed to engage different segments of the community, including:

  • School Residencies: Bringing theatre program into schools to enrich the curriculum and inspire students.
  • Community Workshops: Offering hands-on theatre experiences for all ages and skill levels.
  • Collaboration with artists from diverse backgrounds: We are dedicated to working with artists from diverse communities such as Indigenous and LGBTQ+ to bring their stories to life. By collaborating with these artists and presenting their work we ensure that a wide range of voices are heard and celebrated, fostering a more inclusive and vibrant community.
  • Community Initiatives: Every year we invite groups in Lethbridge who are underserved, underprivileged, or of a minority group to come and experience theatre. With hundreds of invited guests each year, our goal is to make theatre fun and accessible to everyone in the community.

Commitment to Truth & Reconciliation

Truth & Reconciliation

New West Theatre is dedicated to the principles of Truth and Reconciliation. We understand the importance of acknowledging the historical and ongoing impact on Indigenous peoples, and we strive to be active participants in the healing process. This commitment is crucial because it helps us to address past injustices, promote healing, and build stronger relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
